Answer to Question 1

Colonias, pueblos, and villas were for settlement by families and other colonists.
Ranchos were a type of land grant for raising animal stock. The Spanish government authorized pueblos and villas. Ranchos and colonias were land grants set up after Mexico became independent.

Answer to Question 2

The student should know that the Theory of First Effective Settlement, postulated by the geographer Wilbur Zelinsky, states that groups who successfully settled a place first had the longest impact. Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay Colony were both settlements created by British companies. Their impacts can be seen in the architecture of the areas, as well as the dominance of the English in the United States. More subtly, the fact that business interests were primary concerns in these early settlements continued as these settlement became centers of industry and trade.

Chronic necrotizing aspergillosis has a slowly progressive process that, unlike invasive aspergillosis, does not spread to other organ systems or the blood vessels. It most often affects middle-aged and elderly individuals, spreading to surrounding tissue in the lungs. The disease often does not respond to conventionally successful treatments, and requires individualized therapies in order to keep it from becoming life-threatening.

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
