In a study of young adults aged 18 to 26 living in New Zealand, personality measures given at 18, and again at 26, showed that those who had satisfying, high-status jobs at 26 had increased in positive emotionality (well-being, social closeness, and feelings of achievement) and decreased in negative emotionality (aggressiveness, alienation, and stress) since age 18.

FEEDBACK: Even the time period in which you were born and reared can influence your personality. Societal standards and attitudes, likes and dislikes, as well as the nature of external threats, are different for each generation and can have a substantial influence on personality.
