Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
FEEDBACK: Older people must do more than reflect on the past. They must remain active, vital participants in life, seeking challenge and stimulation from their environment. As an older person himself, Erikson said that generativity (the focus of mature adulthood) was even more important than he had thought when he was first developing his theory.

ANS: D
FEEDBACK: If we look back with a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction, believing we have coped with life's victories and failures, then we are said to possess ego integrity. Simply stated, ego integrity involves accepting one's place and one's past.
