Answer to Question 1

The primary advantage is that the chef has the opportunity to become well-acquainted with the
individual. The chef can learn the team member's pattern of judging, valuing, thinking, and
understanding and can predict the individual team member's behavior. However, the
disadvantage to assuming the role of counselor within the team is that the chef supervisor may
not be adequately trained to deal with complex human problems. It is then advisable to refer the
team member to a specialist. Needless to say, the act of referring a team member for assistance
requires considerable tact and skill.

Answer to Question 2

herbs, spices
