Answer to Question 1

Answer: Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a procedure that uses an electrical current passed through a coil placed close to a brain. The resulting magnetic field alters regular neuron activity, sometimes impairing and sometimes enhancing function. By seeing what regions of the brain are affected and by correlating this with observed functional changes you can make educated guesses as to brain region functionality. In addition, because it actually alters brain function, it is being tried as a treatment procedure for depression, anxiety, and the pain of fibromyalgia.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: dopamine
