Answer to Question 2

The things an officer can do after the vehicle is stopped, if he has probable cause for
the search and the vehicle is mobile are: (1) may search the passenger compartment,
(2) may search trunks and closed packages, and (3) may search containers in a car.
Search warrants are required to search locked trunks and glove compartments
because it is reasonable that the expectation of privacy is higher because the car
owner has taken steps to conceal the contents from the public
