Some of the officers have concerns that they will be personally sued for actions that they took to discipline prisoners. One of the officers voices that they are not liable as long as they are on duty and in uniform. Mr. Johnson explains that the Supreme Court ruled that correctional officials who knowingly violate the Eighth Amendment rights of inmates can be held liable for damages.
