The textbook outlines the basic elements for murder in first and second degree, and those for involuntary and voluntary manslaughter. Write a mini case for each of these four types of homicides. Be sure that the case examples meet the legal elements for conviction.

Answer: Examples will vary. Murder in First degree  A person commits the crime if he or she knowingly causes the death of another person after deliberation on the matter. Murder in Second degree  A person commits the crime if he or she knowingly causes the death of another person while committing a criminal act and not acting under the influence of sudden passion. Involuntary Manslaughter  A person commits the crime if he or she recklessly causes another person's death. Voluntary Manslaughter  A person commits the crime if he or she causes the death of another person by being certain of taking the victim's life and acting in the heat of passion.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: Answers will vary, but should include what each career entails. Some items that might be included are: educational requirements, salary, typical daily activities, employment viability, and advances in technology.
