How is flow direction indicated on a piping drawing?

When using a single photo to paint two or more faces of a model, some of the faces may appear too dark or too light. How can this be fixed?

With arrowheads indicating the flow direction.

Answer to Question 2

Right-click on the face whose image you want to adjust, and choose Make Unique Texture. Then edit this new material to have the desired lightness, color, etc.
