Answer to Question 1

Negative features, such as holes, are usually dimensioned with a local note. Positive cylinders should be dimensioned where the feature appears in the profile. Drawing examples will be evaluated by the instructor.

Answer to Question 2

Hiding simply removes the edge from the display. Softening also does this, while at the same time smoothing sharp corners.
