Answer: People differ in their locus of control, making it important for understanding personality. Internal locus of control is a strong predictor of getting better grades. Among racial minority children, internal locus of control was a better predictor of school achievement than any other variable. Believing that studying matters leads to more studying, which leads to better grades.
