Answer to Question 1

Americans stress individuality at the expense of mutuality and overlook the importance of successful human relationships.

Answer to Question 2

Naturalism sees marriage as a natural phenomenon in which we have no control, privatism sees outside help in bad taste where no one should know what goes on our private lives, and cynicism treats marriage as a joke and thus heads off attempts to improve it.
