Answer to Question 1

ANS: T
Sediments are usually a mixture of terrigenous and biogenous deposits. Cosmogenous and
hydrogenous sediments are not as common. Information can be found in the section Understanding the

Answer to Question 2

ANS: T
Strong currents can cause sediments to remain in the water column rather than settling. There are also
areas where there is no accumulation of sediments. This is true of areas where the seafloor is young
because the hot water dissolves material as fast as it settles. Information can be found in the section
Sediments Vary Greatly in Appearance.
