Answer to Question 1

False

Answer to Question 2

Human construction of structures such as breakwaters, jetties, and seawalls obstruct natural coastal processes. Human activity can tip the natural balance of coasts one way or the other. For example, consider the breakwater built in Santa Monica, CA. The breakwater interrupts the progress of waves to the beach, weakening the long-shore current and allowing sand to accumulate there. Human activity can also cause the reverse effect by the coast eroding at a specific location or down coast from a human built structure.
