ANS: B
Wind speed and duration are key in the development of wind waves. The wind then needs a fetch over
which wind can blow without changing direction. Information can be found in the section Wind
Blowing Over the Ocean Generates Waves.



Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
Stokes drift occurs if the particle speed decreases with depth. The movement in the top half of an orbit
moves farther forward in the direction of the wave. Any molecules in the bottom half of the orbit move
