The National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) has identified ten canons by which all members of their association are bound. With one year of legal experience or the completion of an approved training course, a person can acquire the basic designation of Accredited Legal Secretary (ALS) through the testing process offered through the National Association of Legal Secretaries.
