Answer to Question 1

B

Answer to Question 2

The Middle Ages saw the emergence of theatrical genres unrelated to the traditions of tragedy and comedy. Liturgical dramas, sung in Latin and performed by clergy and choirboys grew into more complex cycle plays, performed in the vernacular by members of the community. These plays depicted Bible stories and included a mix of religious doctrine and local comic elements. Variations on the cycle plays include passion playsepisodic plays depicting events from the passion of Christ, and saint plays, or miracle plays, which depict events from the lives of saints. Morality plays use allegorical characters to depict moral lessons. The goal of drama at the time was to teach religion and unite the community around the church.

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
