Answer to Question 1

Today, many designers call themselves scenographers rather than set designers because they take a holistic approach to the production and see themselves as creators and orchestrators of the entire visual worldsets, costumes, and lightsand co-creators of the production concept. This challenges the traditional hierarchy of the theatre, which typically features a director at the helm of a creative project, aided by a team of designers who realize the directorial concept, and often scenographers cross over into directing as well.

Answer to Question 2
