Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

In realistic designs, set, costume, light, and sound are used to depict a specific location, time, and social milieu that explains the behavior of the characters. Realistic design provides an environment in that actors can interact with, so that it appears the characters are living their lives on stage. The actors' costumes express the psychology, temperament, habits, and tastes of their characters. The lighting design is meant to reproduce naturally occurring light and the sound design is meant to imitate the sounds of the real world. Abstract design sees the stage is a symbolic realm rather than an imitation of reality. In abstract design, the goal is to provoke the audience's sense to offer meanings and associations not found in the concrete objects of life.
