Answer to Question 1

Ignition means that fire has started but is contained in a small area of one room, flashover means when fire has spread beyond the point of origin, and everything in the room is burning, and expansion is when the fire leaves the room and spreads over into other rooms or down a corridor. If the fire can be contained during the ignition stage, minimal damage occurs.

Answer to Question 2
