Answer to Question 1

Scan a manually-drawn piece to create a file for import into a software program. Then digitally enhance it (touch up lines, add signage, entourage, lighting, reflections)

Make photocopies of your pen or pencil artwork, experiment with color on the copies. Copy a small part to avoid re-drawing the good parts. Use correction fluid if necessary

Create paper and digital entourage files by taking photographs of people, groups of people, furniture, and other elements and re-size as needed to fit a drawing. Trace figures from fashion magazines for up-to-date styles.

Draw small, enlarge on photocopier or scanner. Use the photocopied sketch as an underlay for a hand-colored one. The larger drawings tighten up when reduced, correcting the appearance of irregularities for a better finished result.

Create a drawing on the computer, utilizing its speed and accuracy. Then trace over it for a hand-sketched appearance, or hand-render the printout.

Digitally scan marker drawings for preservation and display, as marker fades after prolonged exposure to light.

Print an ink rendering onto vellum, film, or art media paper, and then apply retrocolor.

Answer to Question 2

Just like with early-stage pencil sketches, it invites reaction and change. Informal in nature, it makes the client feel like he/she is involved in the process and that feedback is welcome.
