The inventions and discoveries of the industrial revolution helped to speed production to meet
the demand of consumers for fashion. These inventions took the manufacturing of fashion out of
the home and into the factories

requiring specialized skills to sportswear that did not require the same skills as the more labor
intense tailored designs
