 Integrates information over many trials
 Is involved in the learning of habits as opposed to more flexible responses
 Requires immediate feedback (reward or punishment
 Results in memories that are generally implicit; often not possible to describe what's learned in words
 Lesions result in loss of well-learned motor patterns, impaired learning of skills and habits
