Answer to Question 1

ANS: During the beginning of the school year it is important to have a planned daily schedule to allow for structure. Planned centers provide the best focus as children begin their day. As you move through the school year children need less attention upon arrival and caregivers can spend more time with parents at the start of the day. Children can move directly into open ended learning centers.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: In order to prepare for emergencies it is important to have a plan in place and have practiced emergency drills. Each staff should have a role to play in evaluating their room or responding to an emergency.
