Answer to Question 1

d

Answer to Question 2

The ANS reacts very quickly to prepare the body for fight or flight by increasing heart rate, blood pressure, decreasing stomach secretions, etc.

The HPA axis reacts more slowly, resulting in the release of cortisol from the adrenal gland. Cortisol helps the body mobilize energy. However, prolonged HPA activation can lead to immune suppression and deterioration of the hippocampus, resulting in impaired memory.
