Explain the meaning of the following components of family structure and describe at least one way that each component may influence family life: division of labor, rules of behavior, family roles, and power hierarchy.

  Division of labor: who is responsible for each function?
  Rules of behavior: expectations for everyday interactions
  Family roles: behaviors expected for each position in family
  Power hierarchy: who holds the most authority?

  Native self-determination
  Attend to diversity of existing tribes
  Each tribe is sovereign (according to US Constitution)
  Knowledge of historical and current discrimination and oppression
  Buy-in from both tribal community and tribal leadership
  Base on tribes spiritual practices
  Invest in professional skills of trained tribal staff
