Answer to Question 1

ANSWER: The child is showing that he has not yet reached the milestone of conservation. The child is judging the quantity by appearances and not taking into account that the amount of clay has not changed, just the form. As the child develops cognitively, he will gain the knowledge that volume stays the same even though the form may change.

Answer to Question 2

ANSWER: The child is egocentricmeaning the child can only see things from her own point of view and does not realize that everyone does not see it from that same perspective. It is visual as well as abstract.
