Answer to Question 1

These researchers pointed out that there are three perspectives on the purpose of early childhood care and education prior to kindergarten: (1) to promote the well-being of the child, (2) to provide a service to the community, and (3) to provide a living for the provider.

Answer to Question 2

To eliminate food as an issue of control, the teacher needs to realize that he or she is responsible for what and when the child eats, but not how much. With this in mind, the child is responsible for how his or her body develops. So, you can provide good food, set times, and limits for eating and not allow children to snack whenever they want, but to eat when others do.
