Answer to Question 1

These activities include a wellness/nutrition component for school-age children in the early elementary years. These children must have physical activity on a daily basis, which should add up to the recommended 60 minutes per day, when possible. Elementary school children are to be engaged in daily physical education activities for 150 minutes per week. There should no longer be junk food allowed in schools in any form. There should be more choices of green and orange fruits and vegetables and focus will be on lower-fat protein and dairy products.

Answer to Question 2

Childhood obesity can cause pediatric hypertension and diabetes mellitus. It can also impair the immune system and the ability to fight off infection and disease. Sleep apnea, which is a disorder that causes children to awaken many times during the night and reduces the amount of time in deep sleep, can also be a result of being overweight. Children under the age of four can be at risk for having their cognitive development impaired. Stress on the weight-bearing joints is another physical problem that may result.

A recent study has found that following a diet rich in berries may slow down the aging process of the brain. This diet apparently helps to keep dopamine levels much higher than are seen in normal individuals who do not eat berries as a regular part of their diet as they enter their later years.

Looking at the sun may not only cause headache and distort your vision temporarily, but it can also cause permanent eye damage. Any exposure to sunlight adds to the cumulative effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation on your eyes. Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
