There are successful educational programs that address the achievement gap and have proven their ability to decrease the disparity for many students of color and students from low-income families. What are some characteristics of effective programs such as the Lemon Grove Project or the Algebra Project?

of CCSS (i.e., content and skills are learning consistent; college preparation; and uniform standards) and the cons of CCSS (i.e., focus on standards leads to extensive testing of students; strong presence of business corporations in education; and less than adequate integration of knowledge and viewpoints from communities of color).
