Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

Mystical, or visionary literature, reflected an individual's intuitive and direct knowledge of God and it conjured vivid images of the supernatural (thus providing a vocabulary by which the unknowable might actually be known). Christian mystics, such as Hildegard of Bingen, produced original works on such topics as the nature of the universe, the meaning of Scripture, and the destiny of the Christian soul. This type of literature complemented the more ubiquitous didactic religious literature that was meant to teach and instruct.

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.

There can actually be a 25-hour time difference between certain locations in the world. The International Date Line passes between the islands of Samoa and American Samoa. It is not a straight line, but "zig-zags" around various island chains. Therefore, Samoa and nearby islands have one date, while American Samoa and nearby islands are one day behind. Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
