When intelligence test scores are used to make decisions about young children, developmentalists generally agree that:
◦ Practitioners can confidently make decisions only about young children who fall within the "normal" range of intelligence
◦ Due to recent improvements in intelligence testing, practitioners can confidently make decisions about young children on the basis of test scores
◦ Although scores often provide some useful information, they should always be used in conjunction with other sources of information
◦ Test scores provide virtually no meaningful information about young children, and so their use in decision making is rarely defensible
