When a teacher is dealing with problems on a long-term basis, one of the best things to do is to:
◦ comfort the child when they begin to cry.
◦ think back to whatever else changed in the child's life at about the same time the emotional upset became apparent.
◦ remember that many problems evaporate if the teacher ignores them.
◦ think back to how the mother said goodbye to her child that morning.
