Question 1

This patient underwent abdominal surgery earlier in the day by Dr. Jones. The patient tolerated the surgery well. During the evening his wounds began oozing fresh blood and it was obvious he would need to return to the operating suite to locate the source of the postoperative hemorrhage. At around midnight he was taken back to surgery by Dr. Jones, who performed the original abdominal surgery.

Question 2

The patient is a 17-year-old male who has noted a bulge in his groin area for a few months. Outpatient evaluation revealed reducible, bilateral inguinal hernias. He was admitted to the hospital where a bilateral inguinal herniorrhaphy was performed. Mesh was used in the wound. The patient was encouraged to walk a few steps soon after surgery, which he tolerated well. He is now discharged to home in good condition.
