Question 2

The patient is a 59-year-old female with severe varicose veins. Since she stands most of the day while at work, she often experiences pain and needs to take frequent rest breaks. Because the pain is interfering with her work performance, she is requesting treatment for her varicose veins. Surgical and nonsurgical options were discussed with the patient. She chose the surgical option. She was admitted to the hospital and underwent long saphenous vein stripping from the saphenofemoral junction to below the knee of the left and right legs. She tolerated the procedure well and will be seen in the clinic in three days.
