Since cruise vacations are viewed as relatively safe and a fairly close-to-home leisure experience, cruise lines stand to gain from terrorist activity elsewhere in the world and unfavorable currency movements.

The low barriers to entry and the high visibility that can accrue to the proprietor continue to attract new entrants to this high failure rate industry.
