Answer 1

Larger planes can carry more passengers and provide more comfortable seating due to their double aisles. The downside of jumbo jets is that they are expensive to operate. Also there are relatively few markets where they can operate with sufficient passenger loads.

Answer 2

Spending on non-necessary items constitutes discretionary consumption while nondiscretionary spending involves purchases of necessary items.
