Explain what is meant by viewing eating disorders as a cultural syndrome, and whether anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa are examples of one.

- cultural syndromes refer to disorders that appear only in certain nations or types of nations
- some have argued eating disorders are mainly observed in Westernized cultures
- anorexia nervosa is observed in most countries and cannot mainly be attributed to Western ideals
- bulimia nervosa is more likely to be a case of a cultural syndrome, as it does appear more frequently in Western or Westernized nations
