 Frontal lobe development occurs from back-to-front; occurs slowly during adolescence and lags behind other parts of brain development; frontal lobe sustains logical decision making, executive functioning, planning, organizing, allows an individual to consider options
 Adolescents may have difficulties with making logical choices, may show more impulsive behaviors, and engage in risk-taking behaviors, all of which may be related to experimentation with drugs
 Adolescents also have more independence, access to peers, and access to drugs
