o Newer trend is to combine medications to control ADHD and comorbid disorders
o Works with many but not all children
o Gamily beliefs about medication must be addressed
o Improvements in behavior last as long as medication is used
o Must consider the effect on a child's beliefs about self-efficacy (I can behave because I take medication, rather than I am in control of my own behavior)
o Medication can be helpful in the short term but other interventions must be considered and implemented
