Answer to Question 1

A typical ECT treatment involves 6 to 12 sessions at about three sessions per week. The electrical pulse used today is about one-third of the electrical power used in older methods. While one electrode has been used in the recent past, evidence suggests that this one electrode method is less effective than two electrodes. Two electrodes are again used, but a bifrontal placement is used.
