An analogue sample may limit the ability to speak in general terms about a disorder, as this group may be inherently different from people who actively seek treatment for the disorder. The diversity and representativeness of a sample may also limit what can be said about the population at large. For example, conducting a study using only females may limit what can be said about males with the same condition.
