In a study that is mentioned in the textbook, male and female undergraduates in the United States and in India were asked the question, "If a man (woman) had all the other qualities you desired, would you marry this person if you were not in love with him (her)?" It was found that
◦ a very small percentage of the Indian students said "yes" but nearly 50 percent of the American students said "yes."
◦ a very small percentage of the American students answered "yes" but nearly 50 percent of the Indian students said "yes."
◦ most of the female students in both countries said "yes" but most of the male students in both countries said "no."
◦ most of the male students in both countries said "yes" but most of the female students in both countries said "no."
