Ava has had her corpus callosum severed and is referred to as a "split brain patient." When her doctor presents an apple in her left visual field she claims she doesn't see anything. Why is this?
◦ The left visual field is processed by both sides of the brain, but because her corpus callosum has been cut, the hemispheres of her brain can't talk to each other.
◦ The severing of the corpus callosum decreases language ability.
