You have been called to a fight at a bar. Prior to entering the scene you were instructed to "stage" several blocks away. After 10 minutes, law enforcement clears you to enter the scene and advises you that there is one patient: a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. As you prepare to treat the patient, what should you keep in mind?
◦ Treat the patient as if he were the aggressor and may turn on you.
◦ Cut the victim's shirt off in a manner that preserves the integrity of the evidence.
◦ When leaving the scene, make sure you are not followed by anyone who may want to "finish the job."
◦ Leave the victim's clothing on him and treat him as completely as possible with the obstacle.
