You and a new EMT are volunteering at a county fair, demonstrating proper use of child safety seats. He asks, "Why is this so important?" How should you best respond?
◦ "It is important the parents know how to use the child safety seats because if a child is inappropriately secured he might be able to get out of the seat and distract the driver, causing an accident."
◦ "Children are needlessly injured in motor vehicle accidents every year. Because trauma is the leading cause of death in children and infants it's important that we teach parents how to properly use the safety seats."
◦ "We get CE credit for volunteering."
◦ "New traffic laws created stricter requirements for child safety seats. This is one of the ways we can help educate the public on the law."
