Post divorce fathers varied from each other in several ways: Androgynous men
appropriated some parental behaviors and postures that were typically characterized as
feminine, departing from the traditional male role in family structure. They were more
nurturing. Traditionalist fathers shaped their actions and ideologies more according to the
normative gender
characterization of males as the top of family hierarchies, having specific rights accorded by
gender, combative instead of nurturing.
