Answer to Question 1

Describe the three stages in building a strong blended family. 3 points; 1 for each stage correctly described:
- Stage 1: Recovery from loss, dealing with entering a new relationship; acknowledging feelings and allowing mourning; talking about jealousy and guilt
- Stage 2: Planning for the new living situation; talking about fears and concerns; building emotional security; giving up the idea that things will be the same
- Stage 3: Formation of the new family system; restructuring roles of nurturing and discipline; defining relationships with biological and stepparents; continuing to address feelings of abandonment, jealousy, and anger

Answer to Question 2

Give two reasons why it is important to be aware of the power of group influence. 1 point for any of the following:
- Everyone is susceptible; we need to be constantly aware of the attempt by others to manipulate us; the more we know, the more we are able to judge when it might be happening to us
- Groups can influence our behavior for better or worse; we need to be aware of possible group pressure so that we can take control of our own life
- This information will help me to stand up to social pressures, reduce discrimination, prejudice, and stereotyping, and contribute to more prosocial behavior

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
