Think about the changes in roles for women and men from the 1950s to today. How do you think identity formation has changed for adolescents over this period? How do you think thechanges have been different for women and men?

Answers will vary, but students should point out that the less flexible roles of the
1950s probably caused more foreclosure and perhaps less diffusion than now.
Students should indicate that the change in levels of foreclosure is probably more
pronounced for women than it is for men.
