Answer to Question 1

Child abuse is a deliberate action that harms the child, either physically, emotionally,
or sexually. It includes sexual abuse as a subcategory. Child neglect is failure to
take some action on behalf of the child so that their physical, educational, or
emotional needs are met. Child neglect, therefore, cannot include sexual abuse as
a subcategory.

Answer to Question 2

Myelination in neurons increases the speed of signals between neurons. It allows
children to think and react much more quickly than toddlers can. It is helpful in
recognition tasks, but invaluable in processing several thoughts in succession.
Myelination is especially strong in the auditory and visual areas of the brain
accompanying experience in these areas. The functions of memory and reflection
are aided by myelination, as well.
